Detailed Bias Analysis

Analyzing...
Leans Progressive

Primary

The film primarily focuses on a character's personal struggle with agoraphobia and her journey to overcome it for survival, presenting themes of individual resilience and self-reliance in an apolitical context.

The movie features a predominantly white main cast without explicit DEI-driven casting or intentional race or gender swaps of traditionally white roles. The narrative focuses on a survival plot, and there is no discernible critical portrayal of traditional identities or strong, explicit DEI themes central to the story.

Secondary

Big Sky features Jerrie Kennedy, a prominent transgender character, whose arc is depicted with dignity and complexity. Her identity is handled respectfully, and she evolves into an empowered and integral part of the narrative, contributing to a net positive portrayal of LGBTQ+ themes.

The character Jerrie Kennedy, who is established as male in C.J. Box's source novels, is portrayed as non-binary in the television adaptation, constituting a gender swap.

Cassie Dewell, a character explicitly described as Crow Indian in C. J. Box's source novels, is portrayed by a Black actress in the series. This constitutes a race swap.

The movie does not contain any action or adventure elements.
